Seen in the York Press: helping women see themselves in a new light.
Recently, Joanna’s Touch Photography was featured in the York Press — sharing my work with women who want to feel confident, seen, and truly themselves.
It was an honour. And a reminder of why I do what I do.

Elegant woman in a black dress, brown eyes, hair up, looking directly into the camera.
I’m Joanna Brierley.
A makeover photographer based in Topcliffe, near Thirsk in North Yorkshire.
I work with women who do not feel photogenic and are awkward in front of the camera. In my cosy studio, that story changes.
How does the makeover photoshoot look?
Every session is gentle and unrushed.
You’ll be guided through:
Natural, confidence-boosting makeup
Simple posing that feels comfortable
A relaxed, judgement-free space
Photography that reflects who you really are
No pressure.
No pretending.
Just you — as you are.
Why might you need a self-esteem/makeover photoshoot?
So many women avoid cameras altogether. They don’t recognise themselves anymore, so they do not want to be in photos. Do you feel like that?
A makeover photoshoot can bring the spark back, help you see yourself in a new, light, in a kind way. It can remind you that you are still there. Still strong. Still beautiful.
That’s the heart of Joanna’s Touch.
If you’ve been waiting for a sign — this might be it.
