I want to tell you a story.
It’s not just my story, I think, deep down, it might be yours too.
Once upon a time, there was a woman who gave everything she had to her family.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mum, and a friend who would drop everything to help others. But somewhere along the way, in the middle of laundry, school runs, cooking dinners, and putting everyone else’s needs before her own… she lost sight of herself.
She looked in the mirror one day and saw someone she didn’t recognise. Her sparkle was gone. Her smile felt smaller. Her eyes didn’t shine like they used to.
That woman was me.
My name is Joanna Brierley. I was born in Poland, but I’ve called the UK home for over 20 years. Today I live in the magical little village of Topcliffe, near Thirsk in North Yorkshire. But there was a time when “home” felt very far away.
When my marriage ended, I found myself a single mum with two little ones who needed me to be both mother and father, comfort and strength. I was jobless, heartbroken, and my confidence was shattered. There were nights I cried myself to sleep, wondering how I would get through another day.
But somewhere, between the tears and the school lunches, I made a promise to myself:
I would not disappear.
I would find my way back.
And when I did, I would help other women do the same.
Why I Created Joanna’s Touch
For the past 7 years, I’ve poured my heart into building something from my passions - photography, makeup artistry, and skincare. These aren’t just skills I learned. They’re the tools I use to help women see what I see in them: beauty, strength, and light.
The Makeover Photoshoot isn’t about creating a “perfect” version of you. It’s about showing you that the woman you already are is enough, more than enough. No crash diets, no heavy masks of makeup, no unrealistic filters. Just the real you, captured with love.
